As I memorize back to my childhood age, I always had arguments and fights with my older sister. She would always do some things to get me in trouble with our parents. These acts always made me feel like getting back to her and take a revenge for what she did. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "The Revenge in the Hamlet Plays" essay for you Create order Basically, revenge to people is the desire to get back at the person who did something against you or caused the action to be acted upon you (DiBattista 70). In the Hamlet, it is clear that the play is mainly based on revenge and how some characters seem to be in worst condition due to the downfall of the revenge (Shakespeare 50). The readers after reading the play usually see how Hamlet is not only driven to avenge his father but also other characters as well. The play indicates how characters act out of emotions and this affects them from doing effective revenge upon whom they wish to avenge. In the society today, many people usually revenge to their friends as it is shown in the Hamlet play. Hamlet is a play which tackles revenge not only to the hamlet himself but also the other character used in building the plot of the play (Shakespeare 74). Therefore, this paper will focus on the development of revenge in the Hamlet play as a reflection of modern society. Firstly, after the father of the Hamlet passed away, he remained fatherless and suffered great depression. In addition, Hamlet is a gloomier and battles the fact between immortality and mortality (DiBattista 70). He is thinking of suicide when he remembers his fathers because he believes he has no reason to live anymore in his absence. It is symbolic in that he wears black cloth as the indication of life holding no meaning and the only thing is to kill himself. This could happen as a revenge of his mother Gertrude and his Uncle Claudius marriage after his fathers death. This marriage betrayed Hamlet because he wanted her mother to remain faithful to his father and not look for the relationship after the death of his father. Hamlet began to grow mad when he found the ghost of his father, the late king of Denmark who involved him the cause of his fathers death. He was sad to realize his father was murdered by his uncle Claudius the new king. The Ghost insisted to the hamlet that he sho uld take avenge for his father. Hamlet developed the negative attitude which causes tragic plot. In his mind, the only sole idea was to take revenge on his uncle Claudius. Claudius refused to mix in with the family and he failed to anticipate that his uncle Claudius was his new father and the king of the Denmark (DiBattista 90). His feelings against his uncle can be proved as I quote, O villain, villain, smiling, dammed villain! My tables!-Meet it is I set it down! That one may smile, and smile, and be a villain. At least Im sure it may be so in Denmark. So, uncle, there you are. Now to my word. This quote can be traced to Act one scene 5 lines 107-111. The quote is enough evidence that Hamlet has nothing in mind than revenge for his father who was murdered by his uncle to marry her mother. Hamlet was just fulfilled with the wishes of the ghost which was to take revenge for his fathers death (Shakespeare 105). When Claudius was praying, Hamlet had the chance for taking the revenge and hamlets religion is incorporat ed in the play where he doesnt want his uncle to go to heaven when his father is in the hell. Hamlet got enraged with betrayal and madness for his uncle who takes away his fathers life wanting to take the position as king and take advantage of marrying Gertrude her mother. As Hamlet was totally driven to take revenge on his uncle Claudius, Prince Fortinbras of Norway, wanted to take revenge on Denmark, therefore, Claudius was to be attacked from two perspectives. Prince Fortinbras of Norway also had same problems facing Hamlet because his father had passed away too. Now, sir, young Fortinbras, of unimproved mettle hot and full, hath in the skirts of Norway here and there. Sharkd up a list of lawless resolute, for food and diet, to some enterprise. That hath a stomach isnt; which is no other- As it doth well appear unto our state- But to recover of us, by the strong hand And terms compensatory, those foresaid lands. So by his father lost. This quote shows the anger prince Fortinbras had against Denmark. His anger forced him to take a revenge on Denmark (Shakespeare 130). Throughout the play, Fortinbras and prince Hamlet are portrayed as characters that are driven by the notion of revenge against their desire to avenge their fathers. The son of Polonius, Laertes faces the need to perform revenge upon the Hamlet. The death of the Laertes father caused his desire to revenge on Hamlet who had mistakenly killed Polonius thinking that he is Claudius (Shakespeare 120). In real sense Hamlet actions to kill Polonius was unintentional but when Laertes discovered the death of his father he was only after vengeance. Laertes feelings of his fathers death can be quoted, How come the dead? Ill not be juggled with: To hell, allegiance! Vows, to the blackest devil! Conscience and grace, to the profoundest pit! I dare damnation. To this point I stand, that both the worlds I give to negligence, Let come what comes; only Ill be revenged! Most thoroughly for my father. This was Laertes words while investigating his fathers death. Many outcomes were witnessed as a result of Hamlet revenge. Hamlet delayed to kill Claudius and in that period Ophelia who Hamlet loved committed truly the suicide (Shakespeare 140). Her death made him delay in fulfilling the ghost wishes as he was pondering over her death. Hamlet delayed his revenge, unlike Fortinbras and Laertes he ended up killing himself in the process of his revenge against his uncle Claudius. In summary, Hamlet is nonetheless a tragedy about revenge which is portrayed by the three sons through acting in different ways to avenge their fathers and honor them. Hamlets take revenge upon Claudius in fulfilling the Ghosts wishes and losses life in process of his planned action. In the last act of the play many characters. Scientist, Jared Diamond, Explains How Europeans Gained...

Many Caucasian’s have thought and believed positively they were superior to many other races. Most of these people were from a geographic area that had advanced technology, large populations, and a large workforce. This area started in the Middle East and spread laterally within a similar environment that provided a fertile habitat for farmer gatherers. Jared Diamond discovered that approximately 13,000 years ago man started out as hunter-gatherers following seasonal game migration to provide food for their survival. Man would find whatever food that grew in that area to supplement the game animals for sustenance, but this activity would take a majority of his time and would be conditional to the regions environment and his own†¦show more content†¦This in turn freed up many workers to produce other necessities. One very important item was steel. From it came better tools for farming and weapons. The Middle East lost its advantage due to drought conditions. E gypt used the wheat, barley, sheep, goats, cows, and pigs to transform human society. Egypt produced enough food to free a workforce that built one of the wonders of the world, the pyramids. These engineers and inventers discovered resources in their environment to produce clay, steel, gunpowder, and paper. The scholars of the culture spread philosophy, religion, and politics. Paper and the invention of printing preserved knowledge and history, along with better steel and guns gave the power to dominate other cultures in less fortunate environments. Building sea worthy boats enabled the armies to conquer these cultures and take their resources for their own gain. Trading with other powerful cultures producing goods increased the diverse resources with which to become a superpower and to continue to dominate the sea and many different lands. But with the large cities and close proximity of people, and farms with animals in herds and humans close together, came the quick spread of diseases. These diseases tempered populations, but also some humans built up immunities, which were passed to their offspring. Therefore, even though many people died, it did advance the civilization with anti-bodies protecting the culture, but as carriers

Corporate finance free essay sample

Background of Company MCI communication corporation was a telecommunication company found in 1963. In the beginning the business plan of MCI was to build up a group of microwave relay stations that allow limited-range two-way radios signal to transfer. Which means providing long distance telecommunications. In 1971, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) allowed those long distance companies compete and try to break out ATT’s monopoly telephone service in the U. S. MCI wanted to grow further, however the ATT did not want to provide interconnection services which MCI needed. As a result, MCI sued ATT in 1974 and later won the law suit and FCC force ATT to provide service to MCI , thus MCI continue its construction on its own network build. Before 1974, MCI was not profit too much but is all change based on their successful business strategy, knew as â€Å"Execunet† service they offer affordable service to those customers who could not afford ATT’s service. We will write a custom essay sample on Corporate finance or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page MCI successfully attracted small business user and residential to use their services. Due to that success strategy MCI turning to very profitable. Because of that, MCI saw a really high potential growth opportunity that could bring the company to a different level. However, they find out the need more funds and capital to support the growth. ATT is MCI’s major competitor. And ATT break up its business , ATT now compete with MCI in the local telephone business, the means MCI must rise their rate in the local business, but at same time ATT left a big cake on its market share that MCI could toke from them. SWOT analysis Before ATT break up, MCI has strengths on its Execunet service, and fairly lower charge in their local network services. Their weakness is short of capital and market shares which control by ATT. Their opportunities was growth execunet services. They also face threats such as competition from ATT. Before ATT break out: Some of the SWOT analysis have changed after ATT break up. Now their strengths beside execunet service is their high stock value and large amount of cash on hand. Their weaknesses are still lack of investment capital and market share. But they do have opportunities on take over ATT’s market share, also their interest coverage ratio is high. The threats they are facing is great competition from ATT and other firms. After ATT break out: Financial strategy and Analysis At beginning MCI was a very risk company, and like all other high risk company, MCI had high interest rate to cover its high risk. They offer a put warrants on their stock shares to get loans from investors. They also use a tax loss to deduct their tax amount when the success Execunt strategy to kick in. This strategy generated a great amount of revenue. Another way to rise fund for MCI is by selling its convertible preferred stock. Preferred stock is a very safe investment tool, it offer investors dividend and at same time allow them to convert to common stock in a certain conversion rate. By issue these convertible preferred stock, MCI can not only rise capital, but also keep the high value on its common stock. The dividend paid to investor can also become a tax shield due to MCI still carry forward tax losses. Another great use of convertible prefer stock is that MCI can call a provision and investors need to convert their shares to common stock, this action can keep the cash flows tie. MCI can issue preferred stock and convert to common stock later. MCI took lot of debt to get more capital they need, but the good thing is they are very profitable, and their stock is in very high value, and continued to grow. This would easily to cover their interest from the debt. This is a very risk move, by taking debt to leverage the company and then issue convertible prefer stock and convert it to common stock and take debt again. Because if the company is not growing, they will not be able to cover its interest payment. The manager value more fund over the risk of high interest payment. It turns out they are correct in this action. However, in the future, they have to rethink of their position to continue be competitive and growing. The company have a current 55-60% debt in their capital structure, I think although this level can keep their growth, but for the long term they need to find a better way to rise fund and hopefully reduce their debt to 40% in the future. With lower debt ratio, company could be a better position when they are not growth as fast as they were before. MCI were facing great competition from ATT and other new entry companies. Four options for MCI in 1983 to rising capital According to Exhibit 6 on the case, in the 1983, the stock price is $43 on March. In the option A: $400 Million common stock. Although this option could raise $400 million cash to the company, but more shares issue may cause the current stock price fall, that would damage the current share holder, and the same time the market value of equity will rise lead to the cost of equity increase, thus this is not a very good option if there is another choose. The next option B: $500 million of 12. 5% 20 year subordinated debentures, this option gives $100 million surplus over the option A, however, MCI ‘s debt ratio is already very high, and if the company stop growing very fast it could lead some serious cash flow issue to the company, as the result, this is not a good option too. The option C: $600 million convertible at 7. 625% over 20 years with conversion at 54 per share. This option give $600 million cash which is $100 million higher than option B, at same time the interest rate is much lower than 12.5% in option B, and this is an advantage. Also, the company can convert is once the price reach $54 from the $43(April 1983). If is a very good option, MCI can take this deal and convert it from debt to equity once the price hit $54, by doing this, MCI can reduce their debt and satisfy their need of capital to growth. The final option D: $1 billion of a unit package consisting of a $1000 of 7. 5 %, 10 year subordinated debenture and 18. 18 warrants, each entitling the holder to purchase one share of MCI common stock for $55. This option gives MCI the greatest amount of cash over all other option, and also with the lowest interest. Beside that, the warrant in this option gives company a way to covert early by the warrant( if stock price reach $55). That provides the company more liquidity. So all in all, the option D is the best option that manager should take for MCI. Recommend Finance step to MCI MCI has been very profitable, how every they are facing more competition and opportunities especially after the ATT break out. They need a lot of fund to continue growth and take more market shares, so they should do exactly they been doing in the past, which is taking debt and covert it to equity( common stock) and take new debt. However, because they are very profitable , they should decrease their debt level and maintain in a certain level if the stock price keep going in the right direction. By doing this, they can get enough capital and catch the potential growth opportunities.

Discipline of Operations Management †MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the Discipline of Operations Management. Answer: Operation Management is a well-recognized field of business operations and study, which plays a vital role in the objective in gaining competitive advantage and enhancing its performance. The discipline of Operations Management, which I wish to undertake, is the study of managing the supply chain in an organization. In this process, I would be studying about different aspects and activities of supply chain management. It will include the discussion about the aspect of supply chain with the new technologies and development in this field. Managing the supply chain is an important aspect for any organization (Christopher Martin, 2016). It can be understood by looking at the supply chain system of Wal-Mart Supercenter, which has the best and most effective supply chain system in the world. By conducting a research about managing supply chain, I found that Supply Chain Management (SCM) is managing a network of the interrelated business activities, which are involved in the final provision of the products and services that are needed by the end consumers (Chase, 2007). Supply chain Management includes all the processes and receiving and storage of raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods from origin point to the consumption point. From the analysis, I have noticed that organizations should have an efficient and effective supply chain network to compete on todays business environment (Hill Fredendail, 2016). Supply chain network is working as a crucial component for the organizations success due to expansion of multinational organizations and globalization. I came to know that it works as backbone of business (Jacobs and Chase, 2013). The discipline of supply chain management can be viewed from different perspectives, like; relationship management, purchase and supply, operations management, transportation and logistics etc. About supply chain management, it can be said that it is the oversight of supplies and materials, data and finances as they go in the process from supplier to produce to wholesaler to retailer and finally to the customers. The process includes various types of flows, like; product flow, information flow, cash flow etc. The supply chain includes the integration and coordination of these flows within the organization and among organizations. When I researched the supply chain system of Wal-Mart, I came to know that there are various technology changes and developments, which has bought the cost aspect for the information flow very low while increasing information flow and collaboration among members of supply chain. When I was researching about the Wal-Marts supply chain, I found that the company is implementing various technologies and developments for enhancing its supply chain system and making its successful as a biggest supermarket chain. I found that there are many emerging technologies in this field, which are used by the organization to improve their supply chain management. From them, the most effective, which I found is RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). This technology was first used by Wal-Mart. This technology includes the advancement of radio frequency technique to transfer the data and related collected data within the organization (Edelson, 2017). Wal-Mart is spending on implementation of RFID system for enhancing its supply chain system and it has most successful supply chain system in the world. Implementing RFID can decrease the costs of organization and can help in generating higher returns. RFID can develop the effectiveness and efficiency of the supply chain management system of organization. Though the implementation of RFID is not without the risks and costs, but many organizations in distribution, manufacturing and distribution have attained higher return on investments (Mangan, John Chandra L alwani, 2016). The research assisted me in developing my knowledge about this technology that it can eliminate the faults and errors in tracking the errors and mistakes in inventory and data entry. This study helped me in gaining understanding and knowledge about one another technology, i.e. Universal Bar Code (Swink et al, 2014). This technology is the first type of technology, which is introduced in the supply chain. I realized that major purpose of this technology is to carry the changes in the retail market using the coding system for labeling. I can say that this is the great technology, which is implemented by Wal-Mart that improved the organizational processes. It helps in generating all the information, which is needed and specific. Apart from this, another technology is Magic Wand, which is emerging in this field. Definitely, the study about above course topic will evolve my different skills in the future. It will help me in sharpening my current skills to the next level. I was not only enjoyed to learn new things about the supply chain management, but also I started to develop my learning skills. It will assist me in developing my transferable skills, which can be pursued throughout the life; no matter I will be working in the retail or any other industry as long as it is in the Logistics and Supply chain. Since I have studied about the supply chain management of different organizations and positions of people in this system, these all things strengthen my skills in use and implementation of new and innovative technologies, negotiation, logistics, procurement, material planning, production, controlling the inventory and implementation of new system in the process. Thus, the above study evolved my creativity and innovation in the work. In responding the above points, I am able to develop my re search skills and knowledge about this particular area. I came to know that Supply Chain Management is an important field of operations management. After the completion of the study about supply chain management, I found that there are some skill gaps, which have the scope of improvement. In the self-reflective assessment, I realized that I did not analyze the topic critically. It means I did not use my critical skills. I only focuses on the positive side of this topic and did not consider the negative aspects of supply chain and its developments. I did not count the problems and issues, which I can face in the study. It only considered the IT developments in the area, but it did not consider the increased costs and risks associated with the use of these technologies. No using the critical skills, created gaps in the study. If I will do the formal study on supply chain management, then it will assist in gaining information about all the aspects of supply chain. In addition, it will fulfill and cover the gaps in skills. Formal study will include all the related process and technologies of supply chain. It will help me understandi ng the importance and application of supply chain in the business operations. References Christopher, Martin. (2016). Logistics supply chain management. Pearson UK. Chase.
